PAM and QAM? What is the relationship between those two modulations?

Can anyone tell me the meaning of this syntax?

x_PAM = PAM.SymbolMapping(randi(sqrt(QAM_ModulationOrder),L,K_FBMC));

QAM_ModulationOrder=2,16,64,....

L= Number of subcarriers

K_FBMC = number of time symbols

What exactly the relationship between those two modulations? Can anyone help me?
