Cannot run anything from script finder

I just downloaded R2019B, and if I try to click anything outside of the script finder(save, run, etc), it immeditately exits the script finder. I cannot perform any actions from the script finder without using command key.

Exactly what is the "script finder"? What part of the MATLAB user interface are you clicking on exactly?

The editor. Sorry, Im new to matlab. When I have a script open on the *Editor and try to click any button outside of it it closes the editor.

If it's not docked, then clicking outside of it will bring up some other program or the rest of MATLAB. Click the little downward point triangle in the upper left of the title bar on the editor and tell it to dock the editor.
