I think the question is how to reduce the size of the executable, especially when it includes MCR in the bundle.

Like was discussed here http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/54968-is-it-possible-to-create-an-exe-file-that-can-be-run-without-mcr-installed and sporadically over the past few years. It seems like in the days of Gigahertz computers and terabyte hard drives, people still want to squeeze a few bytes out of a file or femtoseconds out of a calculation.
