How can I download an update for MATLAB R2017b? Also, how can I check which version of MATLAB I am using?

You can use the following link to install an update for 2017b. First, download and run the installer and then download the update.
https://in.mathworks.com/downloads/web_downloads/download_release?release=R2017b
If you are already using an update of MATLAB, the output of the 'ver' command in the MATLAB Command Window will give an output similar to the one shown below:
"MATLAB Version: 9.3.0.948333 (R2017b) Update 9"
