Fit a 2D set of points with a NURBS

Hello,
what is the best method to fit a set of points with a NURBS?
I already have all the information about the NURBS (degree, knot vector, etc.). I just need to automatically "move the control points" in order to fit (if possible) the set of points on the plane.
Is there an easy way?
