How can I compute number of pore and their size distribution from photo?

I have a photo of porous structure: http://5.firepic.org/5/images/2013-04/12/xqtle21t6l3d.jpg.
I want:
1. To get qualitative binary image (with closed separate pores);
2. To calculate number of pore and their size distribution.
How can I do it using Matlab 2012b?
