Why does Simulink 6.0 (R14) pause when the window focus is changed to an XY Graph?

For example, I have a simple model which contains a few blocks and an XY Graph. When I start the model, the XY Graph opens, as expected. However, if I click on the axis or grey figure border for the XY Graph, the Simulink model stops.

This bug has been fixed for Release 14 (R14). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:
This has been verified as a bug in Simulink 6.0 (R14) in the way that Simulink handles mouse focus.
Currently, to work around this issue, click on the title bar for the XY Graph to change focus.
