This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 2 (R14SP2). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:
We have verified that there is a bug in the Makefiles found in $MATLAB/extern/examples/compiler, where $MATLAB is the root directory of your $MATLAB installation, which were shipped with MATLAB 7.0.1 (R14SP1). To work around this issue please update your Makefile with the following steps:
1) Rename the file
$MATLAB/extern/examples/compiler/Makefile
to
$MATLAB/extern/examples/compiler/Makefile.old
2) Download the attached Makefile to the directory
$MATLAB/extern/examples/compiler
