Can I use Model Referencing with the Open Watcom compiler (version 1.3) and Simulink 6.4 (R2006a)?

Tech Note 1601 describes Simulink 6.4 (R2006a) and Simulink Accelerator 6.4 (R2006a) as compatible with the Open Watcom Compiler version 1.3, but adds that this configuration does not support Model Referencing. I would like to know if Model Referencing will be updated to be available with Open Watcom Compiler version 1.3.

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 2009a (R2009a). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
The Open Watcom Compiler when used with Model Referencing is not supported for earlier versions of Simulink.
