Why am I unable to see the output from a Dials and Gauges 1.1.3 (R13SP1) block in the top-level of my Simulink model when using ActiveX Controls?

I am using ActiveX Control blocks to place dials and gauges in a subsystem. However, when I try to feed the output of the Dials and Gauges blocks to the top-level of my Simulink model where the ActiveX Control blocks are located, I do not see an output on the Scopes.

This has been verified as a bug in the Dials and Gauges Blockset 1.1.3 (R13SP1).
The current workaround is to place the Dials and Gauges blocks in the top-level if you need to use the output.
