how to compare 2 .xsl or 2 .mat files in matlab

hello, i am working over a voice recognition project in matlab.i have used mfcc for feature extraction and created a database in .mat and .xls format of standard voice templates(eg, A,B,C,D...).now i want to compare the spoken word with the standard words stored in database.but i am having problems in doing so.please help.

Please explain the "problems" with any details. Otherwise guessing what your problems are is an inefficient way to answer.
